The Role of Creativity in Community Life
Published · Malta Cultural Institute Foundation editorial
Creative activity gives communities a shared language for experience.
Creativity is not reserved for professional artists. Painting, music, dance, writing and craft all give ordinary people ways to express what they notice and feel.
When creativity happens together — in a rehearsal room, a workshop or a public performance — it builds connection. People who might never otherwise meet find themselves collaborating towards something shared.
Communities that make space for creative expression tend to be more open to new ideas, and better able to talk about difficult ones.
